Transcript
Hey everyone, welcome to this week's FBL.
This is Matt.
And today, I want to talk about the difference between stability and recovery.
Before we dive in, I wanted to let you know that I'm opening up a few coaching slots, similar to what I did at the start of the year.
This is a unique opportunity and a bit different from the intensive program. If you've been considering the idea of working one-on-one, I'm opening up a few spots starting June 1st.
These will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you're listening to this, it means there is still some availability.
All you need to do is fill out an application so I can better understand what you're going through and where you want to go. If I believe I can help you get there, it would be an honor to work together.
You can check out the links below for more information. Applying is completely free and comes with no commitment.
With that, let's talk about stability versus recovery.
I recently released an episode on the stages of recovery, where I discussed the four stages: survival, stabilization, expansion, and optimization.
What a lot of people do is oscillate between survival and stabilization.
They go through an episode of anxiety, OCD, panic, chronic pain, or some form of psychological stress. Naturally, they're highly motivated to get out of that state because of the pain, pressure, tension, and impact it has on their life.
So they start using tools, trying different approaches, and eventually reach a place of stabilization.
Sometimes this happens simply with time, as the body has a natural tendency to stabilize.
But the problem is that many people continue engaging in the same behaviors that created the emotional pressure in the first place, and they eventually fall back into survival.
So they bounce between surviving and stabilizing.
The work of recovery is about going beyond stabilization.
It's not about managing or coping.
In fact, managing and coping often lead people back into survival.
Expansion is where the greatest growth happens.
Many people think the best time to get coaching or support is when they're trying to move from survival to stabilization.
And that's certainly a valuable time.
But in my opinion, the greatest transformation happens between stabilization, expansion, and optimization.
That's when you have enough energy and awareness to do the deeper work that prevents you from returning to survival.
This is where you begin uncovering the subtle ways fear is still running the show.
It's where you start confronting limiting beliefs, personas, and core emotional wounds that drive fear in the first place.
Because when you really examine fear, it often comes back to a fear of feeling an emotional state that you don't believe you can handle, shouldn't feel, or don't want to experience.
Most fears eventually lead back to that.
Learning how to confront those deeper wounds, beliefs, and patterns is where major transformation occurs.
That's the message I want to emphasize today.
If you're currently in a place of stabilization, recognize that the opportunity in front of you is enormous.
The potential for expansion, growth, and optimization is tremendous.
This is where concepts like self-actualization, integration, and higher states of consciousness begin to come into play—however you prefer to think about them.
I wanted to take some time today to talk about these four stages, but especially the journey from stabilization to optimization.
Because when you understand the growth that exists between those stages, you begin to see what true recovery really is.
Stabilization is not recovery.
Stabilization means you're stable.
Recovery is when you begin transcending into higher levels of consciousness.
It's when trust becomes your new normal.
It's when inner peace, inner stillness, and trust in life become your default state.
And that is incredibly powerful.
It's incredibly liberating.
And it's what I want for everyone who listens to my work.
So with that, wishing you all a great day.
If you're interested in coaching, please check out the links below and fill out an application if it feels aligned.
I'd be happy to set up a time to chat.
All right, talk soon.
