Hey everyone, this is Matt.
Welcome to this edition of the FBL.
So today, I want to talk about the problem of bringing an achievement mindset into recovery and healing.
And before I dive in, I just want to let everyone know that I'm going to be opening up four one-on-one spots with myself beginning September 1st.
And so, we have a link down below.
And the one-on-one is really for anyone who understands this stuff intellectually, but it's just not fully integrated into your life.
And a lot of times, the reason that is is because you have limiting beliefs, unconscious blocks, and just, obviously, the nuances of actually putting this into practice.
And that's really where the one-on-one comes in, with not only meetings with myself, but the ongoing refinement.
So, one of the things one-on-one includes is ongoing messaging, voice notes, and calls in between sessions to really help you integrate this throughout your week.
So if that sounds like something that's in alignment with you, please fill out an application.
Like I said, I'm going to open up four spots to work with for the remainder of 2026.
So, let's go ahead and talk about the achievement mindset.
Now, a lot of people that are in the loop are very high-achieving people.
And this is the one thing: they're very functional, but they're also carrying around this huge mountain and this huge weight of emotion and strain.
And this is where I really want to encourage you not to settle for this specific existence, because I have been there.
It's like, you get up, you do everything that needs to be done, but you're also doing it carrying around this huge mountain.
And if you connect to this, this message is for you.
Because you get up and you complete your schoolwork, or you go to work and you accomplish and meet all the needs of everyone in your life, and at the end of the day, you feel like you're drowning.
This is the achievement mindset in action.
Because a lot of times, we will think that because we've been successful in different planes of our life, whether it's our career, whether it's school, whether it's whatever it is, we bring that same mentality into the idea of trying to heal ourselves.
And healing doesn't happen through force.
In fact, it's the very force and achievement mindset itself that often works against us, because we're obsessively consuming information, always trying to analyze and fix ourselves, always trying to figure out what's wrong.
The moment you wake up, you start scanning and seeing if the thoughts are there or if the feelings are there.
"Oh, I need to do this. I need to get rid of them."
And so, we have these whole routines and everything that we've put into our life to get rid of, cope with, and manage anxiety or fear or all the racing thoughts.
And this is the issue, right?
You cannot achieve recovery.
It's like, yes, do changes in one's life need to be made to get a different result?
Of course.
When we're talking about recovery, we're talking about shifting states of consciousness, so we can't live from fear and expect that that's going to create anything other than fear.
But oftentimes, because we fear our symptoms and our emotions and everything within ourselves so much, bringing the achievement mindset into it comes with this very fix-it mentality.
"I'm going to work harder. I'm going to implement harder. I'm going to force this to happen."
And even if you may get some results with that, meaning you may start to see some level of improvement in some variable, it doesn't work long-term.
Because it's not sustainable.
That's number one.
And number two, that is not how recovery works.
See, healing is a very natural thing.
And what I mean by that is, when you cut your hand or scrape your knee or something like that, you don't force it to heal.
In fact, the harder and harder you try to make it heal, oftentimes, the longer the process ends up being, because you end up reopening it or messing it up or whatever.
And when it comes to healing ourselves from mental and emotional stuff that we're dealing with, it has to come from a place of trust, a place of courage, and a place of non-force.
And that is, more often than not, what coaching involves: me helping people undo the very thing that they're doing that's preventing them from healing and really teaching you how to do that.
Because the lack of trust that most people just, by default, are in—they don't trust themselves. They don't trust their body.
And because there's no trust there and there's fear, the very energy of fear is what then activates the achievement and the fix-it orientation, which then works against the whole healing process.
And so, trying to achieve recovery is almost a surefire way to prevent yourself from getting there.
Because it's just the entire wrong framework and energy to bring into this.
So, I just want to kind of bring this up today, because becoming aware of it is what allows you to begin transcending it, just like anything else.
And so, if you connect to this and you align with it, that's the first step: really becoming aware of it.
If you're looking for help with really integrating this into your life, and this is one of those things where you've tried hard and you know the stuff, and it's not embodying yet, it's not because you're not working hard enough, most likely.
It's because there's a lot of stuff happening underneath the hood, right?
Like I said, the limiting beliefs, the unconscious beliefs, the blocks that are really preventing the integration.
And so, if working together feels aligned, please fill out an application.
And if you bring that achievement mindset into this, please start to become aware of it and loosen the grip on it.
With that, wishing you all a great day, and I'll talk to you soon.
