Hey everyone, welcome to this edition of the Feel Better Letter.
Today, I want to talk about how fear removes you from your essence.
When we live in fear, one of the things about the mind is that no matter what state it’s in — whether it’s fear, anger, pride, shame, or guilt — whatever it says in that state tends to look true.
And that’s one of the problems.
We assume all thoughts are equal… or that all thoughts are “valid” or true.
But a lot of times, we need to assess the state we’re operating from — the state of our consciousness, the state of our being — to understand how aligned we are with truth and with our essence.
One of the things about fear is that when you’re living from it, and projecting that fear onto situations in your life, it removes you from your essence.
And what essence is… is simply being present.
Being here.
The word “essence” comes from the Latin meaning “to be.”
A simple way to understand this is to look at a baby or a toddler — they live completely in the present moment.
They’re immersed in it.
But as we grow, we develop emotional wounds.
We form beliefs and identities.
And we start living from fear, thinking it’s the rational way to live — even though fear pulls us out of the present moment and into the future… or sometimes the past.
And in doing that, it disconnects us from our essence.
From actually living.
Recovery isn’t just about transcending fear.
It’s about learning to feel safe living in your essence.
Learning to feel safe being here, now.
It’s realizing that you don’t have to live your life through the filter of fearful thoughts — or projections of anger, guilt, or shame.
Because staying in those states isn’t really living.
It’s surviving.
And there’s a big difference.
So today, I just wanted to share this reminder:
Recovery is not just transcending fear.
It’s learning to truly live — safely — from your essence.
With that, I hope this helps.
Wishing you a great day and a great week.
Looking forward to connecting with you soon.
